On the way to Aliceville, Mike contacted the Aliceville Church of Christ and ended up spending Thursday night with the Beaver family, who fed him, gave him a place to sleep in their home and let him use the computer. The Beaver family also had a scale at their home, and Mike took the opportunity to weigh his bike and get an idea how much weight he has been peddling forward ... 72 pounds! Mike decided that was too heavy and left behind a jacket, a book and some batteries to get his load down to 69 pounds.
